| Become a Certified Lead Based Paint Renovator or Firm |
Beginning in April 2010, renovation, remodeling and repair firms who work in pre-1978 homes will need to be certified through the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, if they do certain work that disturbs painted surfaces in and outside of the home. This requirement also effect commercial companies who work in pre-1978 schools and childcare facilities. Along with firm certification, an employee supervising the work will also need to be certified as an EPA Certified Renovator. | Lead Based Paint Certified Renovator Training |
 New EPA regulations REQUIRES that contractors performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb painted surfaces in homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978 to be certified as a lead safe contractor firm and follow specific work practices to minimize public exposure to lead hazards contained in lead paint. Individuals performing renovation and repair activities that disturb painted surfaces must be EPA certified renovators or have been trained and supervised by an EPA Lead Certified Renovator. A certified renovator must also be assigned to each renovation project undertaken by a certified firm and perform all of the EPA-mandated responsibilities and reporting of a certified renovator. Fines for violation of the EPA mandate is $37,500 per occurrence! Any company or firm who conducts such activity must also be certified as an EPA Certified Firm and employ certified renovators to oversee the renovations.-
This one-day, 8-hour, class will give you the EPA-mandated training for you and/or your employees to become Certified Renovators and comply with this new federal law. Classes are limited to 24 persons per class. Reservations are made on a, paid, first-come-first basis UPON RECEIPT of the reservation. It is strongly recommended that you fax your form to ensure your spot is held for the date you wish to reserve. Classes are from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Association’s Offices. Attendees will receive a ½ hour break for lunch. Fee includes lunch as well as the EPA Training Manual. Print and return the Training Registration Form.
